A Longview High School sophomore will represent the district and East Texas area in the Texas Music Educators Association Class 5A All-State Band.
Robdrick Halton placed second statewide on the contra-bass clarinet, after placing first in the All-Region competition and qualifying for All-Area. Halton also plays the French Horn, with which he garnered All-Region and All-Area honors. He is the only student in Texas in 2012 to qualify for All-Area on two different instruments from two different musical families.
“We’re very proud of the work that Robdrick has done this year,” Director of Bands Louis Robinett said. “He is a very talented and driven musician.”
